NTA Responds to Earlier Discrepancy Claims

The National Testing Agency (NTA) previously addressed concerns about discrepancies in the JEE Main 2025 response sheets and provisional answer keys for Session 2. They took to social media platform X to communicate their response.

Previously, the NTA faced criticism from students, parents, and subject experts. Issues raised included allegedly incorrect answer keys, wrongly recorded responses, and even blank response sheets in some cases.

In a series of tweets, the NTA emphasized its commitment to a transparent examination process. One tweet stated: “NTA has always followed a transparent examination process, which allows candidates to view their recorded responses as soon as the provisional answer keys are released. The NTA considers every challenge to the provisional Answer Key with utmost seriousness.”

JEE Main 2025: A Quick Recap

The NTA conducted the JEE Main 2025 Session 2 exam on April 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8 for Paper 1 (BE, BTech). Paper 2 (BArch and BPlan) followed on April 9. Admit cards were released on the official website prior to the exams.

The provisional answer key was released on April 11, and candidates had until April 13 to submit objections.

Understanding the Exam Structure and Marking Scheme

The JEE Main question paper is divided into two sections – A and B. Each subject has both sections. Section A features Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), while Section B requires numerical answers.

Important: There is negative marking for incorrect answers in both Sections A and B. You get four marks for each correct answer, but one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. No marks are awarded for unanswered questions or questions marked for review.

JEE Main 2025 Marking Scheme Explained

Here’s a detailed breakdown:

  • If more than one option is correct, four marks are awarded only to those who marked any of the correct options.
  • If all options are correct, four marks are awarded to everyone who attempted the question.
  • If none of the options are correct, or if a question is wrong or dropped, full marks are awarded to all candidates who appeared for the exam, regardless of whether they attempted the question.
